In conjunction with the celebration of Tamil New Year, Da Ma Cai through its Staff-In-The-Community Program had a meaningful visitation to Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor (PPKKCKS) and presented RM7,000 cash vouchers to PPKKCKS to purchase daily necessities.
During the visit to PPKKCKS, the volunteers were given a tour around the home by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr S. Simon. He explained to the volunteers some of the challenges faced by the home and how they assist the growth of the differently-abled children.
“Raising special children require personalised attention, sensitive treatment, and care with a lot of patience and understanding; we strive to provide a suitable environment for them. Besides, we emphasize in individual skills development according to diverse needs to make them independent in the future,” Mr Simon further explained.
After the tour, the volunteers prepared some play-based craft activities to engage with the children in learning through play. They were excited and queued up patiently for their turn to have their favourite cartoon character drawn on their face and hand; while the mingling clown kept the other children occupied with the colourful and unique balloon creations that brings a lot of energy and laughter in the hall.
Yong Mae May, 28, a hemiplegia patient, said that she enjoyed the craft. “I am having a fun time playing with my friends,” she said.
“During the fun arts and crafts time, we are so happy to see our children demonstrate a range of cognitive, motor and language abilities with sensory preferences. We hope that there will be more people who will spend time with them in their development,” said Simon.
“It is encouraging to see the children grow up in a happy, healthy and nurturing environment. We are glad that we made this social visit and we hope we can do more to contribute in enhancing the lives of differently-abled children,” said Da Ma Cai volunteer.
